Last month Newry and Mourne Chair Cllr Cathy Mason visited her local Vincent\u2019s in Newcastle in celebration of Second Hand September.<\/p>\n
Vincent\u2019s Newcastle is one of 33 St Vincent de Paul shops across the country which provides new and lightly worn clothing at affordable prices, as well as providing an income for the Society which is used to support those in need in the local community.<\/p>\n
Speaking about the visit by the Chair of Newry and Mourne District Council, Brendan McKernan, Chair of SVP Retail Committee, said: \u201cWe were delighted to welcome the Chair of Newry and Mourne District Council to Vincent\u2019s Newcastle to see firsthand the valuable work of our shop in serving the local community.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cWe were grateful that Cllr Mason took time from her busy schedule to meet with our shop staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly to bring Vincent\u2019s back to life safely after lockdown.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cDuring Second Hand September we urged people to dig deep into their wardrobes and donate their unwanted clothing, as well as visiting their local Vincent\u2019s to browse the treasures in store and it was a terrific success.\u201d<\/p>\n There are\u00a033\u00a0Vincent\u2019s shops in Northern Ireland and a total of 227 in Republic of Ireland, making it the largest charity retailer on the island.
