Your request for help has been sent

Thank you for contacting SVP.

** CHRISTMAS HELP **

We are no longer taking any new request for assistance from the website as our volunteers are now finishing up on their visits. If you have already submitted a request prior to December 18th, due to the time of year and the information on your request for help this Christmas, your details have been forwarded to your local SVP volunteers.

Given this, there is no need to phone into the office to confirm that your request has been received and processed. The final decision on all requests for Christmas help will be with the local SVP volunteers.

This is what you can expect from us:

As support is provided by volunteers, it can take time to arrange a visit and/or a phone call. We’ll be in touch as soon as possible and we appreciate your patience.

Please be aware that SVP is not an emergency service.

  • Where possible, we will ring you beforehand to arrange a visit. This phone call may be from a private number.
  • Two of our volunteers will visit you - volunteers are not permitted to visit you on their own.
  • SVP volunteers will respect your privacy and must follow our guidelines about confidentiality.
  • Our service is non-judgemental and you can expect to be treated with courtesy and respect.
  • As every situation is different, SVP volunteers will provide advice and/or assistance based on your specific needs. It may take more than one visit to provide the help you need.

Our support includes:

  • Offering friendship and a listening ear
  • Providing practical help with financial problems
  • Providing information about other organisations that also may be able to help you.
  • Help with explaining your case to other organisations.
  • Assistance with education

Take the first step

Please be assured that we will treat whatever you say with dignity and respect, and everything you say is confidential. We are here to help you in whatever way we can. Our members are there to listen and offer support to you at a time of difficulty. When they have a better understanding of the issues faced, they will consider how best we may be able to help.

SVP will get in touch

When someone contacts us and we have a record of their details, and the information is passed onto your local branch of SVP. A volunteer may make contact with you through a private number and you can discuss your particular problems in depth with a friendly person who makes no judgement on the situation.
