Do you remember the first book you really loved? SVP’s WordPower scheme supplies new books to children!Many of us will remember the magic of the first book we loved! Finding out what happened when the tiger came to tea, casting spells at Hogwarts or seeing what the hungry hungry caterpillar would eat next.
At SVP we know how important education is and that every child is full of potential.
Through the SVP WordPower scheme brand new children’s books are distributed to encourage children in the families we visit to begin enjoying books early and all the benefits that brings, including supporting children to be school ready.
The WordPower book scheme is an initiative of the East Region of the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) to supply new children's books to Conferences, which can then be distributed to children and families during home visitations.
The scheme aims to empower families, provide encouragement to parents and give opportunities to children and help them get school ready.
WordPower supplies books for babies, children and teenagers. Each WordPower pack contains four books and for younger children; activity books, crayons and soft toys. The books are for families to keep and share with others in their family or community.
WordPower have produced a booklet to offer tips and advice on sharing the magic of reading.
Thousands of children have already received books through WordPower. With your help we can get more books to more children.
