Safeguarding Manager

Location: Dublin 1

Salary range: €50 to €55K per annum depending on experience

Experience: At least 5 years of experience of working in or within a similar role with Safeguarding and Child Protection Responsibilities / At least 5 years’ experience dealing with safeguarding allegations, complaints, serious incidents and investigations.

The Role:

We are currently looking to recruit a Safeguarding Manager to join our team in SVP House, SVP House, 91-92 Sean McDermott Street, Dublin D01WV3. The post holder will have responsibility for the Safeguarding function across the Society, the implementation of the SVP Safeguarding strategy as agreed by SVP National Safeguarding Committee and National Management Committee (NMC). The role holder will provide specialist safeguarding advice and support to SVP leaders, managers, and Designated Liaison Person’s, ensuring safeguarding policy, procedure and training is up to date and fit for purpose. The role holder will manage the central Garda Vetting resources.

Candidate Requirements:  

  • An approved qualification in Social Work at NFQ Level 8 or Higher and registered with (or eligible to register) with CORU.

OR 

  • A recognised qualification in Social Care, Child Care, Nursing or Youth Work

OR 

  • A recognised postgraduate qualification in Safeguarding, child protection and welfare, safeguarding vulnerable adults. * Other appropriate education and or experience relevant to the role will be considered.

AND

  • ​Strong understanding of good governance, risk management practices and their application.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance of core legislation and national guidelines for child protection in Ireland, including Children First and Our Duty to Care.
  • Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of statutory agencies related to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance of core legislation in relation to GDPR.
  •  At least 5 years of experience of working in or within a similar role with Safeguarding and Child Protection Responsibilities.
  • At least 5 years’ experience dealing with safeguarding allegations, complaints, serious incidents and investigations.
  • Experience of working at a mid/senior management level a requirement.
  • Previous experience within the Data Protection compliance field, able to demonstrate strong understanding of GDPR and associated legislation.
  • Developing policy, procedure and work processes.
